I buy frozen store bought ones that are really close to the actual Mex made ones around here. What I will not eat are the canned ones.

Either is correct. I think of the "stew" as chili versus the pepper as chile.

They make canned tamales?! That sounds horrifying. We buy the frozen ones from Bueno (a New Mexican company).

Absolutely disgusting. Bueno makes really good stuff. Their frozen green chile is what I use to make my green chili.

Very true. New Mexican places only serve chile though (no chili). Although green chile stew is very popular and delicious. Sadly, it is often too spicy for me
