$25K for a breeding pair?

You should look around and see what some people will pay for hatching eggs...

Take a look at what a real good breeding pare of Show Birds (R.I.Reds, Orps. what ever breed) run I think you might be real surprised..

Chris

Looked on this site and on eggbid but the most expensive I could find was still around $100. This guys ad said $25K. It could have been a typo, could have been just trying to scam someone, sure. He said the roo had a bad leg, makes me think it probably got in a fight and didn't exactly come out unscathed. Can you point me to a site or something that has chickens going for thousands of dollars each?

Anyway, yeah, I'm not very experienced, just out here askin questions and tryin to learn

Well, several years back a pet quality silkie that should have been $10-20 went for 4 figures (before the decimal pt) on eggbid.

Good quality silkies often go for several hundred; a pair of paint silkies recently went for I think 1400.

NO one said he was using them for illegal purposes. Aren't you putting the cart before the horse? There is a lot of people in the U.S. that have Gamefowl. There are a lot of people like the look some show them at poultry shows and I know that American Game hen's will out lay any Hybrid chicken you get at a hatchery...

What about the people that sell there Old English, Old English Game Bantams, Modern Game, Modern Game Bantams and Aseel's do you want to flag them also?

Chris

The Person Who Said that was probably Just in-experienced. Im sure he didnt mean anything bye it. But your 100% Right!

I'm sure your right but it is the in-experienced that make all the game breeds look bad and give them a bad name.

I agree, you said it a lot nicer than I was about to Chris.. Getting kind of annoyed at all of the people on this forum who never stop to think people may want to raise games for more than just cockfighting.

Lines like this sell for that much because they are excellent lines, even in other breeds. Have you seen Greenfirefarms sussex? I know of at least three different people who paid 3,000 dollars without a second though for a trio of YOUNG birds.. I'm not saying these game lines are worth that much, but to some it could be. I personally would never pay that much, or charge that much for a bird when you can get birds for a lot cheaper that are just as good if not better.. Like me, I plan to breed the best I can- I don't plan to charge more than 200 tops for a pair or so. That's shipped.. I'm just not into raising birds for money.

I raise the games because they're beautiful, I love their personalities, and they are pretty much just "in my blood". Like my signature says, my great grandfather, grandfather, grandmother, and father all owned the gamefowl. I don't see why people feel it is right to boycott my birds but they should be allowed to do whatever they want with theirs just because they're fluffy.

-Daniel.

ETA: And this isn't directed at you really, Farmer_Dan.. It is something that goes on all the time here.

OH, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I want to keep saipan jungle fowl because they look really freakin cool. Unfortunately, all the hatcheries were out this year when going to order birds. Hopefully next year I can get some, they just look so much like dinosaurs.

The whole concept of "fight to the death roosters" is disgusting. It doesn't matter how it's presented.
Anyone who does such or participates in any way needs to be thrown into a cell with "bubbah".
