we have 6 chickens and they’re almost 29 weeks. Only 2 of them(buff Orpington and Rhode Island Red) are laying the the other four aren’t even squatting and 3 of them barely have combs(Plymouth barred rock) the other chicken (slw) has a semi-normal sized comb. When are we going to get eggs?!!?

These chickens look fairly normal to me. They also look pretty young. How sure are you that only 2 chickens are laying?

There are other factors too, such as light(where I live its almost winter), feed, housing/ventilation, etc.

The amount of daylight hours plays a big part in the egg production department....living in the northeast ya may be waiting until the daylight hours start increasing after Dec 22nd. If ya have company coming, then ya may want to look at buying some eggs.....our chickens here have fallen off, but the ducks just keep on keeping on....if ya was closer I'd be glad to give ya some....we have a difficult time even giving them away here.....:)

Sometimes pullets that come of laying age is time of year will not start laying till the daylight starts to increase in the spring . If you put them under lights for about fourteen hours a day they might start laying sooner . There are those that say its bad or hard on the hens to do that . You own the hens and can do whatever you want to . Come spring and early summer you'll be singing a different song . One that goes What in the world am I going to do with all these eggs :idunno:lau In the mean time look to the grocery store or Craig's list .
