2nd Annual Rocky Mountain Chickenstock May 4, 2013

Hey everyone!!

pics to share :)

My son, Daniel. He had a great time running around and looking all the different breeds. Even got him to sit through the "Basic" class taught by Lance in the morning.

These are the babies we came home with. All of them made the 5 hr trip just fine. 2 BBS Orpingtons from rfunnyfarm (Thanks for keeping them toasty, Cathy!), Daniel picked out 3 from Thebirdguy (AKA Shawn): a speckled sussex pullet, can't remember what the smallest with the leopard spots is (shawn help? I didn't write it down and that was a long drive home, lol) and a mystery chick that looks suspiciously like another sussex (yay!)

Yes, it was quite the trip for us. but it was great seeing everyone and putting faces to names!! Next year, i propose we use the other side of the barn for a BYC meet and greet before the event (with plenty of photo ops!)

Put the word out and mark your calendars folks! Lets help this event grow!

Did everybody else with a long drive make it home ok??

My3boyz, I think the one you think is a swedish flower hen might be a brown leghorn?? Looks a lot like the one I picked up on my way out, lol... don't think hatcheries have the swedish flower hens yet!!

well, that is just another example of how new i am to chickens :) I have no idea what she is, but she is super small and full of herself!

My son picked the breed out because of the leopard spots... but he picked one with the fewest spots, haha.

Edited the above post :)

Mine made it great!!!! Thanks for asking.

I have the three grown hens (2 Ameraucana and 1 Delaware) in my quarantined coop, and the chicks are in the 'baby playpen' on the enclosed porch (mudroom), flitting around, happy and healthy, thinking they can fly (which of course they can't, yet...lol).

It was wonderful meeting you!!! Now I have a face to put with the name...YAY!!

Great job on the whole event, (even though I spent more money than I planned

, which I knew I would cause it involved chickens...lol .)

I'm already looking forward to next year. How about me being formally in charge of name tags...lol.

(My Sportsman 1502 was ordered today and I'm just so excited to get those eggs I purchased from you, in it and hatched out).

Thanks again!!!

I rode with my sister and our tiny chickies made the long ride home with no problems. After I got my new babies in my brooder and got the heat on them I thought I was going to lose the Wheaten Maran Chick I got from La Casa de Pollo (aka Lisa, I hope otherwise I have been calling her the wrong name), but she snapped out of it and was last seen feeling full of herself and flitting around the brooder box with my dad's 3 EE babies from Dunlap's and my other 3 new babies ( a Turken pullet, a frizzle and a BBS Orp), I am so glad she is ok now.
A very huge Thank You to Shawn and family for such an awesome event, it was awesome. Thank You again to La Casa de Pollo and rfunnyfarm for the new babies, Lisa my mom loves the frizzle chick I got for her.

That is a very good idea about you being in charge of name tags Desert Springs, I loved the different color ink choices.

It was so much fun meeting everyone and even though my husband isn't a poultry person, he actually had a great time and wants to go next year!! He told me I need to hatch more birds so I have more to bring. Hatch more chicks? YESSSSS!

Here's some photos I took. I was going to take more, but I kept getting sidetracked by all the chicks. It was with great restraint that I only left with one new baby.....a crele polish from Mesha that I hope is a boy.

I did manage to get just a few pics too, man I wish I would have gotten more! Too busy gabbing. It was just too fun to meet everybody! Here is what I have, most were down there on the end I was sitting at, so Michelle you are a movie star today :)

Look at these happy faces :)!
