There is a label on the bag somewhere [ its required by law ] listing guaranteed analyisis and ingredients . You might want to check what you're feeding .

They sell repackaged bags, just says chick mash on it. I'll have to call them and find out

I was wondering on a 12 on 12 off feeding schedule when they say turn lights off or down what if you still need a little suplemental heat because you started to early. my birds will be 3 wks old on 4-27 and begoing outside shortly thereafter but still may need heat. please help!!

I have the exact same problem, almost one week old, eating chick starter, breathing heavy. I want to take the food away at night but will they be too cold without the lamp? what happens if we just let them eat?

I ended up pulling the feed a few days after posting this. Several started to look stressed and breathing too heavy. Luckily all 15 have survived (they will be 7wks on Wednesday) until this weekend. I had one female, who appeared to be smaller than the others, just die overnight. I was not home this weekend and dh was in charge...so if that gives you any indication as to why I had one suddenly die

Currently, I'm doing 12 on/off and they are going to be processed next Wednesday @ 8wks. There are a few females (which is weird) that are GINORMOUS. The males are more "even" if you will, a few of my females are so big, I'm not sure how they can run/walk, but they do

Per the advice of someone else on the site, I raise the waterer and feeder to the point where they are forced to stand up and eat/drink. I'm just hoping

that everyone else does just fine, I have to drive over an hour to have them processed @ 7am, so I don't want to go through all of this work for a few chickens! Here's to hoping

i have 20. I put them on the 12/12 schedule on the 7th day, per hatchery instructions. They are will be 3 weeks old on wednesday april 28...the seem very strong and active, not the lazy cream puffs i initially thought they would be. my birds are kept in a 12x12 indoor pen with deep litter. in addition to broiler feed i give them hay. i do not play on letting them out doors at this time.
