You'll have to wait. EEs are hard because they fit no standard. Its best to wait until they're 8 weeks or so.

Easter eggers aren't a breed, they're mix breeds, that usually have ameraucana blood in there somewhere in their heritage. Because you don't know what the mix is, you don't know what color patterns are involved. What's recessive hiding in there that can pop out in offspring. That's why EE to EE breeding doesn't breed true. Meaning you won't generally get a chick that looks exactly like its parents. There's other genetics at play. So, I'm a little confused. The threads about the differences in color pattern, not accurate? My pullets have all followed those rules. Or are we saying that the color pattern difference at this age may change? Just want to understand.
My Easter egger changed dramatically in coloring as he aged. At three weeks he had pretty even coloring. I think you have to wait. Here are pics of mine 3 weeks pic 4, pic 1 and 2 six weeks. 3rd pic this week 13 weeks. Interesting enough, my EE was the fastest feathering chick out of my 7. He had a tail before everyone else. The rest are girls.
How’s your barred rock?
Yes EE are really interesting in how their colors change. At the beginning of 3 weeks I just knew he was a girl because of his even partridge coloring. Then those little red splotches started showing up.Wow, he's gorgeous! It's so interesting to see how much his feathers changed. I think Easter Eggers are rapidly becoming my favorite type of chicken (I don't think I can say "breed", as they're really mutts). They're so diverse and fun to see what colors they and their eggs (if hens) come in.
Thanks for posting those pictures!
Oh no. The barred rock coloring is not looking hopeful! I’m sorry!!!Society's rooster hate is so frustrating! You can kinda see the red starting in the youngest pic. Really sad you can't keep him, if he's sweet as a teen, he's going to be a sweetheart! What's the butt right behind him? Golden laced Wyandotte?
Watch, I'll be totally the wrong and Joey, the one in these pics will be a girl and the one I've been certain is a girl will be a boy.
The BR is getting a red comb now, too. 4 weeks on Sun/Mon; I'll post him again then. He's got a lot of white, dinosaur sized legs and is HUGE. 3/4lb already!
Below, show down with the big boy and one with the black copper marans...look at how huge!View attachment 1980666 View attachment 1980667
And then the other EE at 3 weeksView attachment 1980668 View attachment 1980669
Oh, my gosh....the face.
I can see why you thought maybe boy.
The BR's casual way of starring down the brahma rooster, is also not promising!
