3 day old chick, scratching its head off, HELP, (BLOODY PIC!!!)

id say inner ear infection too. just cut the toenails for now so it doesn't do so much damage.

I have neosporin pain relief with bacitracin, neomycin. polymixin and pramoxine pain reliever, would that be safe?.. I wonder though it a really need an itch releiver rather than pain reliever..

i'm thinking the pain reliever would numb it- give it a try- and keep us posted! poor little guy!

I have been told many, many times not to use the pain killer it can seriously kill a chick.!!!!! Gloria Jean

I had an older chick that i believe had an ear infection. I gave her oral antibiotics for 3 weeks and she recovered. I would start your chick on antibiotics right away if you haven't as yet. Good luck!

She has been on antibiotics for four days today and yesterday I applied poultry protector against mites/lice/fleas yesterday and cleaned the cage. But she still had two itching fits today..

Have you been putting oil on her itchy spots? I really think the olive oil I dabbed on my baby helped.

I did try the olive oil one night but the scratching still took place..tonight I tried the neosporin as the poor thing kept scratching and crying....applied to the head and ear areas. She looks like a punk since her hair is all up, but hope she gets some relief.. the other chick has stopped scratching..
