I purchased 10 Dominique chicks from a hatchery and they arrived Fri. morning. I noticed one of the chicks wasn't eating or drinking on Sat. Today she just sleeps and is very wobbly. I have put electrolytes in the water, but the only way to get a little down her is to dip my finger in the water and place a drop on the end of her beak. I don't know that she is getting much. Any ideas? Also I notice she has a cut across the top of her beak from nostril to nostril.

I think the most you can do at this point is keep her warm and get her to drink and eat some wet chick mash. It's hard to save sick chicks. She may have been stressed in shipping. I don't know what the cut is.

I tried egg yolk as I saw in some other posts. After an hour, she perked up some. I put her to bed with the rest of the chicks, so we will see how she is in the morning.

Well this morning I went to check on them and she was still alive! I put her near the water and she dove right in, literally. I was excited at first but after falling in twice, because she is so wobbly on her feet, she gave up and refused to try any more. Tried to force her to eat, to no avail and we were about to give up on her. Then at lunch we took them all out and she perked right up in the sun. She still was so weak she had a hard time running, but she gave it her best. She even ate a few bugs and pecked at her food a little.
Now she is a mess from trying to force her to take yolk and honey. She keeps trying to clean herself up on her chest and about falls over every time poor dear! I am afraid to try and wash her up for fear of her getting a chill, so I am going to leave her messy for now. I still can't get her to take any water though... They are back inside in their box now and she just screams until we hold her, then she immediately goes to sleep. I can't carry this chick around all day!!! We will try the sun again later this afternoon and see if it perks her up again.
