I've searched for the answer and can only find issues on the eyes being closed. My chicks eye won't close?! I noticed this when it hatched and cleaned it up a bit with warm water. It was in the bator for just a little over 24 hours while the others were hatching. Then, I thought it was getting better but now it looks bad again. The chick can not close that one eye at all. You can see the little clear 'eyelid' moving over the eye and it looks a little bloodshot. I tried to rinse it with warm water again and did notice a couple tiny feather were in her eye at the corner so I got those out and she still can't close her eye? So now I'm not sure what to do???
Its a Buff Orp chick. She's also not eating or drinking much? There is a Silkie chick that won't eat or drink much either. Been doing it for them all day.

Ive never heard of such a thing? does it have the upper lid and is it stuck up there? ow can you tell it can't close its eye-like you can see 1 eye open and the other not? odd...let me do some searching...

I tried to slowly and gently push the bottom and top lid and it won't budge? Maybe there is no top lid because its just not moving??? I can't see anything...this is awful

poor baby-I looked through about 15 pages on eye problems and could not find a thing! Im sorry I hope someone comes along soon for you:-( Cant they use that second lid to cover their eyes to sleep? and clean their eyes?

I don't know? Even when the second lid blinks it dont even cover the whole eye. It doesn't stay closed, it just blinks. It looks a little infected. I feel so bad

instead of water-do you have any saline to flush the eye with? That is less irritating-any ophthalmic ointment? I know this is a way far off shot but its called BNP Bacitracin Neomycin Polymyxin-I happen to have it from work and it is used for eye problems-conjunctivitis and such???

I'll have to check the drug store in town, they may have that. BNP? not sure if they would have that there or not, never heard of it. Do you work at a hospital?

Ok thanks Natalie! I appreciate it. I'll be going to the store shortly here and I'll search for it. Hopefully she'll be able to close her eye soon...poor thing
