3 dead chicks in 8 hours. What am I doing wrong?!?

Tha
Were these chicks shipped to you, or where did you get them? Have any had any pasty butt issues, sleepiness, or not eating and drinking? Make sure they are all drinking the electrolyte water, and I would dip their beaks often. It could be that they suffered shipping stress or got chilled during shipping. Sorry for your loss.
Thank you. They were shipped Monday, arrived this AM. One dead on pickup. Two more died, a 4th now very weak. no pasty butt. One dead chick had clear oral mucus expell just before dying and one had a bit of red thin stool. It and one other had hard beady crops. Not sure what could lead to that? Bedding with hydrogel was in shipping box. Maybe that?
So, I gave a healthy dose of vit E to the chick splayed out and syringed some sugar water with lytes. She is now on her hocks at least, so good news there.
The health 7 remaining chicks seem to be doing well, drinking and eating.
Thanks again. I will give an update in a bit on weak chick #4

I would keep getting the weak chick to drink the electrolytes and offer a little egg yolk and moistened chick feed. It sounds like shipping stress was the issue. Hopefully the weak chick will make it. Check vents each day to check for any pasty butt, and clean it off with a little warm and soapy water without stressing the m too much. Shipped chicks are prone to pasty butt.

If it had red stool, it could coccidiosis, have you dosed for that.
I have not. They were vaccinated but I assume immunity will take a week or so. The chick with red stool passed, and I haven’t seen any since.
Think I should treat the lot of them anyway?
