Yeah it’s conflictingI agree! So it is hot here in TX so I'm not surprised it's a little redder but the size of the comb makes me think male. But the feathers should be showing signs of cockerel by now.

I've never heard/seen anything like that, so I'm inclined to not believe it. My rooster's eyes are just as round as his hens'.roosters eyes are not as circle as the hens. They are more egg shaped.
Cockerels develop at different rates. It's also possible this guy is showing male feathering and we just can't tell from the photos. If OP wants, they can get closer photos, or look under the feathers to see if there are some little pointy ones coming in. That would confirm if it's a cockerel.By three months my rooster was showing cockerel feathers. and yours is not really. so it's really hard to say if its a roo or hen.

Some will start crowing at 3 months and hopefully the hens will start to lay soonJust updating (for my own records and in case anyone is curious).
He'll be 18 weeks old on Wednesday. He finally grew his sickle feathers and they have this really cool green and purple sheen to then. He also has some gold flecks appearing on his wings. He's still very sweet... so far.
No crowing at all! So I'm guessing he's just a late bloomer. Hopefully that's a good sign... my pullets of the same age haven't started laying yet.
Hey! I read all through your thread about fixing your roosters wry neck! I'm very impressed! Some will start crowing at 3 months and hopefully the hens will start to lay soon![]()
