3 out of 4 are BOYS

Oh, dear. I have a little bantie in with 2 roosters (Leghorn) the same age. I hope they don't try to mount her soon. Thanks for the heads up.

My little cochin bantam roo, Patch (3 weeks old) already seems to have a favorite girl (a very large - compared to him - NH red) and has been jumping on her back nearly the whole time I have had him (2 weeks) Ornery little devil! They are buds.

The mounting behavior can be a dominance thing instead of a mating thing. I've had a dominant hen that would mount the other hens when there was no rooster in the flock. At 10 weeks it might be mating behavior, but I'd think dominance instead.

I also had 4 eggs hatch and 3 were roos. The first one you could tell at 3 weeks, the other two you could tell at 8 weeks old and they were all crowing at 9 weeks old. They were EE's.
I also has a Mille Fleur Belgian D'Uccle rooster who started crowing at 2 months old.
So it is young, but not unheard of.

My roo started crowing at 7 1/2 weeks. His first crow came out loud and perfect. His half white leghorn brothers didn't start until about 9 weeks old. They were raised outside, whereas the early crower grew up in a solarium, eating lots of diverse greens and plants in there.

When he started mating, he'd often mount the hens backwards. So interesting to watch!

I feel your pain. Out of 8 almost 12 week old chicks I have 7 roosters. One started crowing at 7 weeks and a second one started crowing 2 weeks ago. I found a home for one of them, but still have six roo's that I need to re-home or they will wind up in the freezer.

My second set of chicks are almost 9 week old BO's, and three of them are definitely roo's and a fourth one is possibly a roo too. That would be 4 out of 10, which is better then 7 out of 8.

I have 10 eggs in the incubator. I'm sure with my luck there will be a good number of roos there too.

I just got 16 two day old sexed pullets from a hatchery. I'm up to my ears in roos, so I bit the bullet and just ordered pullets.
