We have just come through -10 degrees and now its 20 plus and spring is coming but for 3 weeks in a row
i have lost a pair of Cali or Gambels quail
first the hen is dead and then next day the cock then a week later the same happens and then the 3rd week the same ??
I have a pair or red headed Partridges in the aviary with them,a pair if Golden pheasants and 3 Silky hens and a cock Silky
All the quail have just gone through a 3 month long cold winter ,all looked superb and fat as can be
when they are dead they are just the same but dead, no marks on them no feathers every where so nothing is getting in there
All the other birds are in superb health ,
I am sick to see them die obviously ,as i hatched them last year and got them through the winter i am at a loss !!!!!
the aviary is 5 mtr long 4 mtr wide an 2.5 high so plenty big enough
I have other quail in aviaries close by and no problem at all
Any ideas please

I really wish people wouldn't do that!!!

Did you notice anything sickly with the birds, puffiness around the eyes, foul odor from them? Maybe the cold is getting to them?

Still, chickens and quail shouldn't be in the same coop due to disease transmittance and size difference in that matter.
