I have four chicks that are 2-3 weeks old....all different breeds, so I have nothing to compare this one too....She is a BA and was bigger from the start, but has feathered the slowest. They all have combs, but hers is bigger and I noticed yesterday that she is starting to get wattles.....Is 3 weeks too soon to tell the gender????

Here are some pictures...she was roosting on my hand and wouldn't let me see her feet, but they are no bigger than the other chicks.

Looks henish, comb should be more red if its a guy. But then again, its a bit too early to tell. Post pics again in two weeks or so, then we will know for sure.

looks like it, get a shot of the wings spread out please

I am at work, so can't take anymore pictures of the wings....but what am I looking for??

At three weeks with bright red wattles I say that's a roo. That's what I would assume if it were my chickie..

pointy tipped feathers tend to be male
where a more round tipped feather would be female
BUT its not 100% Saddle feathers tho, thats a deal breaker but you have time still before they would show.

I've got an BA about 4 weeks old. She is not showing any signs of wattles and her comb is pale but about the same size as your little chick. She has feathered quickly but is not completely feathered out is is smaller than my BO's.

This picture was taken yesterday.

Thanks for the input! Being new to raising chickens, I am just not sure what to expect! I will post more pics in a couple of weeks. I have been reading other posts of sexing Australorps....looks like these gals/guys can be confusing when it comes to their genders!
