I was thinking along the line of mdbucks. It's sad all around. 1000 chickens in a "shed"? What kind of life did they have!? un

WORST THREAD EVER!!!

The kid (teenager) was drunk driving...he did not attempt to commit chickencide on purpose. It was an automobile incident. While not condoning drinking and driving, expressing hatred and condemnation on this driver because of the death of 300 chickens borders on insanity. If the comments were meant tongue-in-cheek, I apologize for missing the sarcasm.

BTW...A shed in European agriculture is any type of building housing poultry or animals and does not reflect the size or the housing conditions of the animals inside. Member states of the EU have very strict animal husbandry guidelines regarding bedding and square meters per animal/bird. As this was in Germany, I would guess they were housed in a deep bedding (straw) facility and had more than adequate space.

I know accidents happen, people and animals are killed by drinkers everyday. That's not what I was saying what I was saying was a teenager driving DRUNK is INSANE. Anyone driving drink should be smacked around a bit.

I wasn't commenting on your reply. It was actually moderate. I meant the ones saying the person should be drawn and quartered...having him run over by an unmanned bus...beaten to death or smothered...stick him in the shed and run him over, etc.

Yeah I don't think the kid should be killed! I'm sure there's no drinking age in Germany but I'm pretty sure almost every country has laws about driving drunk. He shouldn't be murdered...maybe just forced to pay to replace all the birds that were killed.

Germany has very strict drunk driving laws...you don't mess around with the Polizei (remember the Gestapo)...

During my time working in Europe I got pulled over for going 62 kph in a 60 kph zone. The fine was 450 euros or about $400 at that time.

That kid will definitely pay for his youthful transgression...

Hopefully none of our members will be on the jury...they didn't even hang all the Nazi's after WWII...

So no I dont care about the 300 chickens but not careing about a 17 year old driving drunk is like not careing about someone shooting a loaded gun into public as long as no one got killed then its just a foolish stunt.

I believe in strong punishment for violators of our laws. Drunk driving...first offense...some jail time and losing driving priveleges seems about right. A death sentence may be a bit extreme...but maybe I'm too soft-hearted toward the criminal element...

I've BEEN a drunk driver!! So I can say that it was very' stupid! I killed my car, darn lucky I didn't kill myself or anyone else. I stopped drinking that day and haven't imbibed since. That was way back in the 80's.
