33 week old EE still not laying

Thanks rosemarythyme. How old are your EE? When did they start to lay?

My two EEs are 2 1/2 yrs old now. I had a 3rd previously, slightly larger than the other 2, but lost her to a hawk.

Mine didn't start laying too late, maybe around 6 months. And all of mine have been fairly reliable (though not overly prolific) layers, though as a whole, EEs are not known for being the best layers.

Do you have brown egg layers too? Maybe she is laying a tan egg?
I thought all 4 of my EE pullets were laying bluish green eggs because when they were at POL I caught each of them in the nest and would check back randomnly to get my colored egg. Apparently the EE girls did a switch on me! So the one EE really didnt lay a colored egg, her egg was one of the tan eggs in the nest box! It took me over a month to figure out that I have not gotten 4 EE colored eggs in one day. So i took time to
babysit each of the 14 hens that I have when they went into the box to lay, removed each egg and wait for the next to lay....she got busted! Lol
Her egg color ranges from pink to fake looking light ceremic tan. It's pretty, but I did want at least one true blue egg.

I have wondered this as well, I do have brown layers but I have witnessed every single one laying; so I know whose egg belongs to who(whom? Never been good at that 😂). I also have never caught her in the nesting box ... sigh

Well maybe she is just making you wait for the biggest, most colorful, tastiest egg ever 👍
I hope she doesnt make you wait much longer.

How long are the days where you are? Here we have a bout 10 hours of day light right now and only 1 of my 8 laying age hens has been laying. I added lights in the chicken house and have been turning them on about 2 hours before the sun comes up, effective extending the daylight to 12 hours a day. after just 5 days of extended light I found 2 eggs instead of one. I am hoping that some of the other girls will start too. If these were older hens that needed a break from regular laying I would have just let it happen, but all of my girls matured at the same time the daylight got shorter and I think that is why they are not laying. My brother has the same issue and is waiting to see how my experiment works. Have you thought about artificially extending the length of daylight hours?

I was thinking about doing this, as we just finished the electrical wiring to our coop. The days are short here, maybe 8-9 hours in Michigan. What kind of light do you have?

Thanks!

I just used 2 old spotlights from the side of my deck. I have power down to the coop but I wanted to be able to turn it on and off from inside the house and not spend more than $10. So I took the bulbs out of the spotlights on the deck (we never use them anyway. I bought 2 simple light sockets1 screw in outlet, 1 screw in thing with 2 outlets and another bulb socket and 2 adapters from 3 prong to 2 prong (because the screw in outlets are 2 prong. I used 2 old extension cords a 50 footer and a 20 footer. I put the single screw in outlet into one of the spotlight sockets on the deck (control by a switch inside the house ran the 50ft extension cord down to the chicken house, cut the end off an wire it to one light socket mounted at one end of the chicken house. Screwed in the 2 outlets and a bulb thing, put the other socket on the other end of the house, cut off the end of the 20Ft cord wired it up and ran it back to one of the sockets in the first adapter thing. both cords needed the 3prong to 2 prong adapters and then I reused two of the spotlight bulbs from the deck. About $10 and 1/2 hours work and I can light up the coop at 4:30 or 5 in the morning without even having to go outside. I flip on the light when I get up go to work and then turn it off when I get home. As I don't want to mess with roosting time, Just wake up time. So far so good. I hope all that rambling description wasn't too confusing. Makes sense to me, but that doesn't always mean anyone else can decipher it! All true geniuses are scatterbrained(that's my story and I'm sticking to it!)
