34 Things you should know but probably dont..

My friend's dog nearly died from eating grapes. He went into renal failure. It took weeks of treatment and thousands of dollars to save him. They have a grape vine in their yard. Some grapes fell on the ground, and he ate them.

PLEASE tell me #9 is wrong!!!!!! That is just wrong!!!! I have comforted myself that my smallest one is mine by saying that hospitals don't make mistakes like that!!!!! My other two were red headed and light complected. The last one was born black headed, now brown and darkish-redish complected. I really thought they were handing me the wrong kid! Oh well, they showed her to me as soon as she was born before they ever took her out of the room, so it would have taken true effort to pull that switch off! Still the thought is scary.

I love emails like this because they make me think about myths vs fact. Does it make sense to me that if you pass gas in an space suit it'll get damaged, or that Finland, a pretty liberal country, would have banned Donald Duck?

Google helped me find the links, BTW...

Susan Lucci isn't related to Phyllis Diller: http://www.snopes.com/movies/actors/lucci.asp

Duck wasn't banned in Finland: http://www.snopes.com/disney/films/finland.asp

It
doesn't seem logical to me that a space suit would be damaged by flatulence, nor that you can 100% prevent gas. Eliminating beans won't do the trick (believe me, I know!!). I couldn't find anything about not passing gas in space suits other than this: http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/onlinestuff/snot/what_would_happen_if_you_farted_in_a_space_suit.aspx

I
do have to say that Da Vinci was an incredible inventor and certainly a genius!

I noticed #9 doesn't say how the baby switch statistic come about. If this is a "world wide" issue, then I am shocked it's only 12 per day. Think about it. Countries where medical care isn't near what we have here. It could happen very easily. I'd like to think the US statistics aren't that high-- but they do make a HUGE to-do at the hospitals now about putting a wrist band on the mother and then immediately on the baby and SHOWING you or the father the matching bracelets. I know our birthing teachers one both kids make a fuss about double checking that this happens. They didn't with our first because he was rushed over to NICU- but my husband followed him and watched the whole time from the other side of the glass. My daughter they were very prompt about showing me and him.

I'm just saying, the "facts" are amusing, but the internet is only as reliable as the telephone.
