I'm sorry I didn't mean to inspire awe and discontent.
I'd say I built him in my lab out of spare parts ... but it was much less exciting than that. I just happened to find a guy that was programmed to "nice to women and animals, cleans up after himself, knows how to cook" right as my marriage was imploding. In fact, I'm glad he was persistent cause I kept telling him no.
And for those of you who asked about my four whole months without snow, it's not normal. The (horrible) saying around here is to expect snow on the ground from around Thanksgiving to about Easter. I've found that to be generally true for the 5 and a half years I've been up here. Except we got a late storm in May this year and a storm in October. So 4 months without snow (June, July, August, September).
But again, at least I wasn't mowing the lawn for those 8 months
27 days to ducks, hopefully. And 16 days til we set chicken eggs! Everyone have their eggs lined up?

As luck would have it, my hatch was not just miserable, it was an abysmal failure. Out of 28 eggs, only 13 made it to lockdown. Of those 13, 10 chicks hatched... of those 10, 6 died and I have 4 left.
Of course, I'm visiting my in-laws for the holiday and have a neighbor taking care of my babies- paranoid out of my mind that something will happen to the others while we're gone.
I'm a little emotionally shaken over this (silly, I know, but it still hurt), but if I'm over it in time for the hatch, I'll jump in!
