SCG this was the best tasting turkey I have ever had. I would start chatting with Lotsapaints about eggs for Easter! I am saving a tom and a hen to get eggs to hatch in the spring.
That does look delicious! Boyfriend already committed to building two more coops (one for my ducks, which went into the incubator at noon - and promptly had an accident due to the stupid egg holders in the Brinsea Octagon Eco 20 not quite being the right size and giving in to the power of the almighty Auto Turner... luckily there were no casualties) this spring. He mentioned the second coop was for a "banty coop" ... not sure I can convince him that turkeys are banties (he's a smart one). And I'm not even sure I want a banty coop but I couldn't find myself saying no.
He's the best, ever. And I didn't even ask for new coops.
It helps that he really enjoys building anything out of wood (a hobby that started with my coop!). All I have to do is mention something and he'll get an idea to build something for it. We just finished work on a train platform for his nephew (who loves my wooden train platform that my dad and granddad built) and he built a trash/recycling center in the garage, recently, too.
Only problem is I'm probably going to have to have more land cleared for all these coops. But as long as I don't have to mow it...
They actually have been pretty easy to keep other than having to clip their wing feathers so they couldn't fly out of the pen. We don't have any problems with blackhead around here so I have just kept them with the chickens the whole time. One of the hens is still pretty friendly with me. Good luck with your duck eggs!
