Nah-- it is the late, lemented Dozer. She broodied herself to death this summer. She was in the cage so she couldnt gather more eggs.

Broodies.... OMG, I had so many broodies I nearly pulled my hair out. I finally broke them all. I think about 25 total. I had a pen that I cleaned out. Concrete floor, no bedding, no nests; roosts only. Pop door to outside run. I broke them! It took about 3-5 days. Stick a rooster in and that helps, too!

Lotsapaints, I'd love to have some marans for the dark eggs, but I want to hatch the darn things. lol I can't start new eggs till what is left in the bator either hatches or not. Is it the show in Stockton you refer to? By then I'd be ready to try again, maybe I could catch up with you there and buy some?

Superchemicalgirl, you clearly have a florid case of hatchitis! I've never seen so many broody boxes in use. lol Fortunately, I don't have a basement.

DW & DS#3 are home. Of course DS#3 took off with #4 to play with high school buddies. I hate them out late on weekends when folks drink and drive. Glad all but #1 are safe and sound in Phoenix... the elk did a number on the Pilot, just glad my wife is alive and the car is still drivable. #1 is at the bowl game in Boise. He'll come home with a buddy next week for Christmas.

I'm in nesting mode. Spent the day cleaning trying to have the place presentable when DW got home. Got all of the shopping done and Sunday dinner ready to go into the oven.

Glad I have extra percocet to help with the surgery pain.

I loved watching my Splash Ameraucana hen (the most beautiful hen I own) with the six chicks that Laree hatched out for me. She is such a wonderful mother and so very attentive. I am so hoping that before New Years I have a couple more hens go broody! It would certainly help to have those wonderful brooders.

It got up to 74 today! My garden loved it.
