Hi all, I've got four bantam cochins that are 3 weeks and 3 days old. I've noticed differences in their combs and am wondering if this is a point at which we can surmise cockerel/pullet. Numbering them below and then I'll comment with my own impressions.

I'm pretty much a newbie posting here, and you all are so fabulous with all the help so far. This is our first flock and it's been fun to watch them all develop from day 2 onward! Thanks for weighing in - we can't keep the roosters, so I'm trying to figure this out asap before my kids get even more attached. :)

Thanks again!

So I'm thinking:

1. Cockerel (very convinced, especially by behavior - always in front of the group acting like a lookout, seems like already trying to crow even, and so much bigger/heavier than the others, though started off quite small).
2. Pullet
3. Cockerel
4. Pullet

Thanks again!
Cochin bantams are usually sexable early, but not that early. Give it a couple of more weeks at least.

They are a little young still, but I'm thinking all those are early cockerels.....:-/ they have waddles developing, and big combs. So just wait until six weeks, or if anything turns pink/red, cockerel for sure.

Thanks, all. I saw in the mega-thread for sexing that they are able to sex some at 4w, so I was hoping for a 3w+ divination! :)

@Crazy for Chickens! I am worrying about them all being Roos myself - my family will be so sad as we can’t keep Roos in our town here. Even my husband who has only become pro-chicken in the last 6 months asked if maybe we can have a house rooster. Uh, no.

Ok - it’s been a week and a half and I’ve got new pics of my 4 Cochin bantams, who are all almost 5w old. I’m pretty sure now that at least 3 are cockerels.

Any updated analyses? I’ll keep the numbers the same as in my original post, which seems to be reverse order in this post. Also, my first set of pics has a same-age EE, I’ll be making a different post for sexing my EEers.
Thanks for any guidance!
