4.5 week old Americauna

Can anyone sex these guys ? I know its early but do you see anything that stands out as pullet or cockerel? Picking them up this weekend and really hoping for pullets

Still quite young, so it is possible you could have a slow maturing cockerel. Though both EEs look like pullets at this point in time.

I was thinking they dont look like Americauna... but the breeder has absolutly beautiful ones in his breeding stock which is where a friend got the eggs as ameracauna either way I am glad to hear they look like pullets lol thank you

I believe the correct spelling is Ameraucana, and anything else is an Easter Egger, they're beautiful though!

I think it's pretty common for the beard/muffs to disappear for a few weeks when they first start feathering out? If the breeder is spelling it "Americauna" though, that likely means they aren't show-quality and most people would consider them Easter Eggers. You can look up the breed standard for Ameraucana and see how those chicks and their parents seem to line up.

It’s not about being show quality. Ameraucanas have a specific set of features that set the aside from Easter Eggers.

They look like Ameraucana so far. One splash one blue, both have muffs and beards, pea combs, and white skin. I assume you just accidentally misspelled the name. I would not hop on the Easter Egger bandwagon yet. Too young to sex
