4.5 Week Old White Leghorn - Pullet or Rooster?

I think it's a cockerel - you should be able to tell for sure in a week or two - just watch for the comb to change color or for the wattles to get any bigger.

Like 2 of the other posters, your chick's comb is bigger than my 2 leghorn pullets' combs at 7-8 weeks of age (see picts).

The color in that pic appears to have been greatly enhanced. You can tell by the skin tone of the mans arm and his shirt sleeve. However, I would expect more red than the baby in the op is displaying.

Hi Lorie (CovenantCreek) - Your link doesn't seem to work - could you try that again? I'd like to see your pics!
It would appear that the vote is not looking good for my supposed pullet. I've heard that some girls look roo-ish for a while? Or is that just wishful thinking? Still hoping I just have a tomboy on my hands.
What is a "sure" sign? I would assume crowing? Obviously, if she lays an egg, we're in good shape... but that could be a few months away...

yep. i will second that also. my 9 week Leghorn pullets have smaller combs than in the photos used here.

um, the important question is, once it is determined, are there going to be "It's a Boy!" candy bars or what? hurry up! i need chocolate!
