Help. Yesterday, 7 of my 26 or 27 chicks got burnt. Tuesday, the heat light was moved closer to the chicks because one was shaking. The light was fine. The light was moved before bedtime. Yesterday, I thought the chicks could use a little more warmth, so the light was moved closer in the same spot as Tuesday. A little while later, I heard LOUD peeping traveling through the vents (the chicks are in the room with the wood stove- it was not on). I knew something was wrong. I went to check on them and the light had fallen on some of them. The chicks were rushed to the sink to be cooled down. Two chicks were already dead. Then, the alive chicksnwere put in a shoebox lined with a towel. Food and water was given to them. The next morning, the chicks (all except one) had all hopped out of the shoebox to cuddle with the rest of the group (the shoebox was placed in the bin with the other chicks).
Their eyes are closed now, but they walk around and eat and drink. Are they blind?
