Hi,
I have a four day old turkey poult. She was the smallest and last one to hatch. After being moved to the brooder, she seemed to adjust all right. However, the next day she began to get stuck on her back a couple of times. Over the past few days, she's had her ups and downs regarding that issue. She'd be very lively along with the other two and not get stuck on her back for a long time. It would seem she mostly does it at night when she's sleeping. I think she falls asleep and then somehow gets stuck on her back. Yesterday morning I found her on her back and when I picked her up her eye was swollen and shut, most likely from having her face on it's side and attempting to get upright. It hasn't opened back up. Just this morning she was stuck on her back, and then again this afternoon. In between then she was happy and lively. It looked like she had gotten overheated this afternoon being stuck on her back, as she was panting. I got her back to normal, but now a few hours later her other eye is closed and not open. And she seems to be a little weaker and sleepier than usual. I had already put probiotics and electrolytes in the water. I'm not sure what to do for her eye(s) (btw, the one that initially had the problem has crusty stuff along it but the other one does not). And her getting stuck on her back.. please help, not sure what I should do first.
Oh and the other two poults can sometimes be pecky at each others beaks so maybe one of them pecked that eye? Or maybe she's just too weak/tired to open it
