4-H chick help

Our fabulous town librarian donated a box of assorted top hats and a box of assorted bantams to our 4-H poultry group. In April each kid got to choose a couple of chicks to take home. My DD is the junior leader so we are trying to play the guess that chicken breed game so the kids can do their poultry posters for the fair (our state canceled ALL bird shows for the rest of the year). We've figured out most of them, but this one has us stumped. Any ideas?

We were torn on the OEGB idea. We didn't think the back feathers looked right. And it doesn't stand as tall and "proud" as most OEGB. Is this what they look like young?

He is young and is still growing in his big boy feathers. Hatchery birds a rarely perfect examples of their breed. He certainly is not a tophat, so he must be some sort of bantam. The only bantam breed that he resembles is an OEGB.

He may be a Golden Duckwing Old English Game bantam.

All the top hats were easy to identify. These bantams are a whole new experience. This batch included a Dominique and a Barred Plymouth Rock--twins except for their combs. Here's the kicker, what's the chance that this ISN'T a bantam? It is the same size as his brother's Golden Laced Polish. Would a hatchery throw in a non-bantam "free" chick with a bantam package? We specialize in feather-footed birds. Some of these "naked leggers" have us stumped!! Are regular sized Old English about the same size as a Polish?

Hatchery bantams can be a wide range of sizes. Some might end up near standard size. Polish tend to be small or bantam sized. So if this chick is about the same size a polish, it's probably a bantam. He definitely looks bantam sized in the pictures. A standard sized OEG is about the same size as a leghorn, but with a slimmer build.
