4 Hens- 1 egg per day...at the end of my rope

when you say mash, what is that? Is that just crumbles watered down into a paste like? I am so stressed over what they are eating being the reason, I have changed their feed 2 times in the last 2 months, gave them cabbage, gave them crickets, give them meal worms, we wormed them all, gave them probiotics, added the fake eggs, and personally I have about had it! They have fresh water all the time, and every day we get our 1 egg from the same reliable hen, and thats it.

Just stick with the basics a good chicken ration and plain water.
Give that a week or two.
Changes can throw a wrench in the machinery, so to speak.

Hi, Copied a pic for you. It is similar to what ducks have. i live in UK. And buy mine on

I mix mine up with warm water, and they love it. You do not need the mash with wormer
included, but i have copied it for you to read. I am sure where you live you will find it.
Also i buy online as find feed stores cost a lot more. Trust me just buy a 5kg bag first for them to try. If they like it then buy a large bag. It is like a dry weetabix to look at
crunched up. I was not sure either to change our girls diet, but i went for it. Now we
are overun with eggs lol. They have it in the morning. I would give it a go, like i said buy a small bag first. Then you can see if they take to it. Plus you have not wasted your
money on a large bag. Good Luck.

I really believe this worked for mine, like you i was besotted and tried diffrent feed.
I then came on here and read 2 who swore it worked for them. We kept chickens all
our life and never had any problems, before. Use to breed our own, until 5 yrs ago a
fox took them. grrrrr One stupid night we never locked them in, never had fox trouble
before. But we still locked them in to make sure. It put me off having more, then hubby
built a fox proof coop and run up. And my boys bought me 8 POL and i bought 4 more.
So glad we did as they are so much company. Still lock them in though to be on safe
side. Try them with the mash, it worked for us.;)

Hi Just to let you know, i have replied to your question earlier, in regards of the mash.
It is at the last page of thread, in case you missed it. Good luck.

I found out that it could be mites/parasites. All of these signs I missed with my girls. Everyone kept telling me to give calcium, but it didn't work. One of my girls was laying eggs, just fine. Might want to check into parasites. They don't always show symptoms. Mine weren't missing any feathers or itching consistently, but there were bugs.
