4 legged chick Clover

OK THE POST YOU'VE ALL WAITED FOR: She's fine. at 10-12 weeks we made a plan to amputate the limbs, she won't have a tail but that's ok. She listend to her heart and said it is def polymelia and not an absorbed twin. Our Clover may become a case study for Iowa State Veterinary though. That would be cool. The vet wanted to call the news station down but we declined. My father said evey single staff member came to see her and ohhhed and ahhhed. She's famous! We are so happy right now you have no idea...

That's such great news! All of it!!! I went and looked up definition of "polymelia" before replying. Like others yesterday, I also thought "absorbed twin", but then reconsidered last night how that would work in a bird egg. Two yolks? Polymelia definitely makes more sense. Clover is gonna be famous on byc too! And re the teacher jerk, yeah, some people float around like giant black clouds tryin to steal other's sunshine. Glad u didnt let 'em. You got this! Keep us updated complete with pictures as she grows, please.

Did they take xrays?
Vet study would be cool, does that mean they won't charge for the 'operation'?

they will prob still charge, the tail is the point it would have to be removed because the 2 extra legs come together in an upside down V shape kinda, no x-rays

I did like the name suggestion from yesterday, "Lucky". She really is very lucky in many ways. Lucky she got overlooked at hatchery, & even more lucky she found u. "Lucky Clover" works, dont u think?!
