4 legged chick Clover

Pics
Having worked in a chicken processing plant there were times 4 legged chickens would be common that I joked that I was going to come up with a double breasted chicken. (I never did) Cancerous tumors were also quite common at times which is why most USDA Inspectors bought only whole chickens organically grown. Cancerous parts would be cut off & the rest would be processed for human consumption.

Wait... Pics????
Let it live. Chickens are sentient beings like dogs and like humans are sometimes born differently. Since this is all a creature knows they will adapt. My only thought is perching you may need an adaptation or like my small flock they don't perch at night but snuggle into pine shavings and a layer of hay. Take a skid cut it in half works great might work for her. Can place it on top of four bricks for more height without loosing stability

Mmmm… how do i say this. I ordered 6 chicks from Cackle Hatchery, i was given 8! and one of them has 4 legs. I honestly don’t expect survival but it doesn’t seem to be in pain?? I’m not sure how I would tell… But I just don’t know what to do.
I don’t see any uploaded pictures- have they been posted?

I’m not doubting you, I’m just shocked cackle would do that.
Cackle didn't deliberately do it. Chicks are picked up by the handful and put into boxes for packing. The workers have to hurry as there are a lot of orders to fill. They don't check each individual bird one by one. A defect is easily missed.

Maybe not, but if it's was a 'sexed' chick, the extra legs would not be missed.

I would ask the vet if he could “band” them instead.
Banding will not work because there is bone involved. The bone needs to be cut. I used to breed dogs and banding is not done on dewclaws either. At least not with a litter of pups. The tiny extra claws are clipped off when they are days old. Little or no bleeding involved either as, at that point, they are only soft tissue and the bones have not developed yet. Someone may have tried that with an older dog but it is not the correct way. Dewclaws should be removed by a vet.

Chickens tend not to eat/drink when they are in pain. I would say just wait and see.
