Because the university people said she could have other multiple organs, I cancelled the vet appointment to make sure she will survive. She is doing fine and is not under any stress so I dont want to drop $100 just yet if she isnt going to make it.

My neighbor is the picture taker so I will try to get more pics. Wing feathers are starting to come out. I am down to washing her every other day. Both vents still working. And a good amount of tail feathers coming in so I suspect Quatro is a girl. The vents are on each side of the tail feathers but are higher up than normal, slightly higher than the tail.

I will try to get pics of the vents and their location to the tail feathers.

Wow- It would be worth it to describe to all of your local vets the situation- someone may be willing to look at it for free just out of interest!

My local vet is a chicken lover and would be thrilled. It would be neat to see x-rays.

UPDATE - I contacted several others that also purchased Marans eggs from this breeder. This is what I got:

Out of 18 none hatched.
Another had 10 hatch out of 18. Two had misformed bellies. Intestines coming out anus.

I am told that this sounds like she is over medicating her flock. If I didnt mention it before the zillions of birds she had were in poor conditions. Had I not already won the ebay auction, I would have turned out and ran. However I didnt want to risk the negative feedback.

Does anyone know about overmedicating? I dont know what that means as I only worm my chickens. I guess I need some educating. Should I report this lady to animal protection? I dont want others to go through this because of her ignorance.
