Hello,
My 4 month old Emu, Marvin, started acting sluggish 3 days ago. After looking him over, it seems his crop is very full/impacted. Still squishy, but about as big as a pear. He did vomit up some plant matter after I massaged it, but it is not decreasing in size. I wasn't able to find much info on the internet to help him but have gave some vegetable oil and massaged his crop as well as some apple cider vinegar in case it was sour. He has been eating very little grain, but still seems to be grazing throughout the day. I didn't want to pull all food as he's skin and bones at this point. Is there anything else I can try? I have Penicillin, but didn't know how much to dose him. Mash some calf manna and electrolytes and slowly drench him? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Penicillin won't help if it's a blockage. He really needs to see a vet in this case - the blockage needs to be removed. If massaging it and giving him oil didn't help it pass, then it'll have to be taken out, or he will starve to death because no food can pass through into his digestive tract.

Emus don't have a true crop, either. Like ducks, their esophagus can expand to store food. So the blockage is somewhere in his esophagus.
