I am afraid to ask, but I think my bantam sexed “female” Cochin may be a roo. Purchased from Meyer and hatched 8/28. She is the only Cochin I purchased so no other for comparison. Thoughts?

That comb is quite large and bright colored for a chick only 4 weeks old.
I think you probably do have a male, although another week or two will probably make it much more obvious.

I agree, that comb is suspicious! She has been giving me “roo” vibes since week 2.
She has feathered in very slowly which I have read can be a sign of a roo as well. The other 4 bantams from same hatch date are much bigger and no prominent combs but they are also different breeds.

Same happened to me like my “hen” Hei Hei the black copper Maran (bottom is from like last week) who is slowly getting sickle feathers on his tail now

6 weeks now- any thoughts/opinions?

Thank you all. Am still hoping she will not be a cockerel but it just isn’t looking good!
