4 week old bantum chicks .

They truly are not tight I check them every day

Captain is the only one that looks like a cockerel to me, but they are still young. Also those leg bands stretch so you should be good for awhile.

Still, it's not good practice to keep them that tight at that age. You could loosen them quite a bit and still have them secure.

I understand what your saying but it looks to me that they aren't that tight. I'm sure when the time comes she will remove the bands if they become to tight. Is there something else you would recommend to her to use instead? Myself I use the bandettes but we all have are own preference.

What are bandettes?? They really are not tight .. but I'm open to any option the kids liked putting them on the to know which one is which. Do they have bands that grow with them ?

These are bandettes.

I don't have a recommendation about leg bands for chicks, as I don't use them until they are way older, as I'm concerned about the effects of them being too tight.

I admit on my hens I use zip ties, but they are very loose and move freely around the leg. Any sharp ends are filed for safety and comfort.

In some of those photos the band appears to be positioned too high to be loose, which is why I commented.

But I am sure there has to be threads on the proper procedure of banding chicks on this site, if the OP is concerned.
