4 week old chick scalped by older hen

this morning the barrier between the mature hens and baby chicks came down somehow.
I found one chick out of the 17 in the corner with her head scalped and I think one eye lid missing. She stands occasionally. I have her in my hands and lap. She won’t take water or food yet. Do I need to worry about dehydration at this point. What can I do to get her to drink? Help

You should treat for shock first, then clean the wound and pack it with wound ointment. Warm Gatoraid is easy to give and if you dip the beak, the chick may drink on its own.

Make a Saline rinse (boil water with salt, then use after completely cooled off), tilt her head and and gently poor it on her head to remove any germs. Gently apply some Neosporin with pain reliver to her wound. Dip her beak in water, that'll get her to drink. You might have to do that a couple of times before she'll drink on her own. Don't worry, she'll be fine, just will always have a bald spot.
