40 WEEKS and I got my first GREEN EGG!!! (pics)

Congrats on your first EE egg

I have 2 EEs and a silver laced Polish. After 28 weeks (on Groundhog's Day) I got my first green egg. It's now 30 weeks and she's still the only hen laying. I would have thought she would give the hint to the others. I can't believe I might have to wait another month or so.

When do Polish generally start laying? The two freeloaders combs aren't quite as red as my laying hen's.

I am guessing this is a rare occasion waiting until 40 weeks. That seems crazy to me. Doubt you would have to wait too long.

Congratulations on your green egg!
My EE stops laying just before winter for about 4 months. Today I got one from her again, since September. She will be 7 years old in April.
Not sure, but maybe sometimes you have to wait a little longer when they become laying age in the winter, it takes longer???

yay! I got my first green egg on Valentines and another yesterday. It is so exciting. My chicken was hatched in June and I was wondering what was taking so long. Its nice to have the green to mix up with the brown!:
