You must be in CA!

I will make you a deal. I noticed you raise bronze turkeys. And you said you don't like getting a camera out. I will post a picture of my $150. turkeys when you can show a picture of a bronze poult with a black breast.

When did I say anything about a bronze poult with a black breast? I never claimed to be raising show turkeys. We have them as pets and food, never calimed to have the SOP birds. Never even wanted to show a bird before. I will hatch some more this week but I hatch on Friday and don't still have them around by now. I just want to see what $150.00 turkey looks like and a couple others have asked also.

I thought you had followed the thread about sexing bronze poults since you had multiple post on it. Black breast had nothing to do with the SOP.

I won't!

I had to go back and read the post on sexing bronze poults because I didn't even know what they were talking about. After reading it, nobody said anything about "poults" having black breast but when they get feathered having the black edges on the toms. After seeing the attitude of these post by people just trying to help, I see why she is "Miss"turkey4.

I'm with you on that! Several people ashed just to see what a $150.00 turkey looked like. Nobody called BS or anything, we just want to see one. I think it's great if somebody can get that in their market. You must be in CA.

I have a bad pic I found of some bronze but I think you can see what Steve was talking about when he said the Toms have black edges and the hens have light. Thomasturkey also has some good pics with examples on the who has bronze thread. I this pic you can see the Tom on the left with Black edged feathers. Look behind the young golden narragansett hen to the bronze hen and you can see her light edges.

Now, will you please post a pic of a $150.00 turkey.

Hmmm... I know I have read somewhere on the internet about heritage turkeys going to $7-$8 per lbs (butchered weight) during the holiday. Saying you have a 16lb bird, that would only be $112-$128 a bird. I had thought at the time that must be a hard sell being that store birds are around $1 a pound. If your getting $150 a bird, you have found the ultimate market. With the 16lb example, your getting over $9.30 a pound!

Update: Did a google search to find the article regarding the $7 lbs turkeys led me to this artical which has a rather good break down on the costs that go into your birds and how to translate it into your selling price. http://www.albc-usa.org/documents/turkeymanual/ALBCturkey-13.pdf
