We get all kinds of entertainment from our birds and people who drive by. At the prison xmas party, a couple of people came up to ask about the birds in the yard. One came up and was shifting his eyes around trying to ask a question. I was like, "okay, what's this guy going to ask?!" Well, he wanted to know what happened to my lamb, lol. He's like "I go past there and I was seeing a goat for awhile, but I haven't seen it for awhile." Considering that he's a preacher, I wasn't quite sure how to respond, but I was half intoxicated and just blurted out "oh, he's in the freezer now, and he's pretty darned good too!" Ah well, he took it pretty well, lol.
George also gets all kinds of stuff posted on his facebook page. Yesterday somebody posted something like "I love driving by to see what new things show up in your yard!" I told them that the next thing would be an emu, lol.
They probably think I'm being completely serious. Of course, I'm only HALF joking, because I'd LOVE to have some emus! Even my sister scans his page once in awhile to see what new posts people leave about our lawn ornaments. She brings it up every time she sees G, saying "I get so much entertainment out of your facebook page, all of the comments about 'what was that white thing in the yard' or 'do you have CHICKENS in your yard?!'"
It is funny though, because G is the major there, and he's pretty laid back and definitely NOT the type you'd expect to find raising birds, lol. The inmates enjoy mowing the lawn though, they're always admiring the birds. The prison used to raise chickens, but they quit awhile back, so many of them have never really seen chickens and especially turkeys. Of course, those are the guys that are from Philly and areas like that, lol.
