4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

My birds are never cooped up during the winter, they still free range in the snow, as long as it isn't windy, they roam. I have very hardy birds and love being out even the bantam that is out there likes it.
Mine are out alot during the winter; but we get alot of -10F and below weather with even colder windchills so they can't be out then. In January, temps usualy hum around 0*F (more times colder than warmer)

...wow. The "Expected Delivery By" date just switched over to December 8th instead of the 6th where it had been sitting for the last 4 days. Yes, she sent the eggs priority. It's pretty sneaky to change the expected by date like that on the USPS site, but ah well. In all honesty I just hope they are not broken or jostled too much. I can handle them being here today, because the weather has been cold (not freezing), but all that handling is what worries me (concerned about air cells being non-existent).

They just went through my local post office this morning at 5am so...I see no reason why they would not be delivered today. <hopes>
I'm expecting some eggs too that have been taking a long time. They were sent on Tuesday and said they should have been delivered by the 6th. It took them 3 days to send them from one sort center in NC to the one sort center in MN. It still has to go through another sort center before it gets to me. I'm not holding much hope now for these eggs. It is below freezing and they will sit now, since they won't be to our PO until Monday. But who knows - sometimes eggs can surprise a person.

Quote: Last year was awesome, I think we only got down to 0 a couple times. I think since the Earth is doing it's natural warming and cooling thing we won't have that bad of a winter again this year.

I can take all of it except for the nasty freezing wind.

Last year was warmer for us, also. This year has been super warm so far too, but I can't help but expect the worst.

Hopefully it will be a good year!

Me too. Personally, I would rather have snow right now then this stupid rain crap that floods my runs and makes too much mud and the fact that cold rain just down right sucks, because it is wet.

Last call for eggs. I have exactly 12 from two NN projects and 9 Buff Orp (maybe Lemon Cuckoo Orp). I also have 30 from my layer pen with a lot of Ameraucana, EE, OE roosters. E-mail me if interested. [email protected]. I have about 90 minutes left of wrapping if I don't hear from anybody I'll set the NN Tuesday.
