My DH finished the diy incubator today, it just needs a few fine tunes to be ready.
Needs
1) Air holes , not sure how many???
2) Adjust the hot water heater thermostat Down some more (if poss.?) DH thought he put it down about as low as it would go & that would "cut off bulb at 100F" but it went to 104 b/f the bulb turned off -that is TOO HOT RIGHT? I need the bulb to turn off at what ? 101? 102?
Note- this is w/ 60 Watt bulb on max ( DH gave me a dimmer switch so I CAN fine tune) or change to 40 Watt bulb??
AH- it just clicked BACK ON at 100F
Should I just put air holes in and retest b/f messing w/ the water heater (which would be a major pain requiring uninstall)
3) I need to rig up a wire tray holder to hold the egg cartons w/ eggs on the pvc turner (DH made the handle on the outside tilts each way pvc frame like I asked![]()
now I just gotta rig it for the eggs. I am planning to set them big end up in cardboard egg carton insert ( I cut a little hole in the bottom of each , right??) I understand something other than cardboard would be better but this is all I have so it will work, right??
This is my first (other than broody hen) egg hatching & I *really* want some healthy peepers on NYD...if any of you have advice from using a homemade cooler 'bator I'm all ears!

Your thermostat needs to be facing the other way. The silver part (back)should be about 2 inches from the bulb/ Check out this guys Youtube video on what to do. You should try to mount the thermostat so that you can adjust it from the outside.
and then some. Ha Ha Ha LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
