4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

I'm in. All my babies will be outside by then and the brooders empty, so why not.

I still am getting 4-5 duck eggs a week, so I'll set a dozen or so of those. Hopefully I'll have some chicken eggs to set by then too. I just got a quad of mottled japs who are coming out of molt but looking good and their combs are getting brighter red, so maybe I'll get to hatch some of those too.

I Hope The Pullet Gets Better
Thank you; I was able to put the four better birds back out in their pen tho the Muscovys were raising their crests and hissing! The worst off pullet is actually a tiny bit better tonight, so we'll see.
I'm so sorry Mary! I've been kinda going through the same...I got a deer cam out and a live trap. It wiped out half my flock

again, I'm so sorry for you!!
Thank you; these were 75# pitbulls so no trap big enough.... but they did not live to come again.

Trying to figure out set dates for different fowl for the hatch-along. This is what I have, let me know if its right. The charts I looked at were all slightly different
Muscovy (35 days) - 11/27/12
Goose (31 days) - 12/1/12
Duck, Turkey, Pheasant (28 days) - 12/4/12
Guinea Fowl (26 days) - 12/6/12
Chicken (21 days) - 12/11/12
Quail (18 days) - 12/14/12

Dad sold 2 of our roos today, so now I know I'll have plenty of room for new babies. Here's hoping we can build the grow out pen here soon so I can keep cycling them around. No one stays in a cage for long.

Yay! Roo rehoming can quiet things down and open up new options. Hmmmm....I think I have a few roos that need new homes too. Better get some pictures and get them up on CL

Looks right to me. I'm going to snag that for the first post if that's ok.

I am so excited right now! I read this outloud to my husband and he jumped on it. We are both looking forward to this fun, our winters are long and hard not to mention boring. We spent all this time building a large heated coop and now we can really put it too use! We've decided we're going to hatch chicks and ducks and just let our birds mix it up to make it a little more fun for us. I love to try and guess what the heck they are and who was their daddy!
