4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

BHep, very pretty. Are your smoothes both ganders or male/female?

One gander ,3 geese.. The gander is the one up front. They are really just pet quality. They are not pure white, they have little spots of grey over 2 of their eyes, as you can see in the picture, also the gander has some grey feathers on his back. Regardless, I LOVE them. They are mischievous little stinkers.

They girls started laying last Spring, 2 went broody on rocks and pecans and quit laying after 4-5 eggs.

Only a few eggs were fertile, I put every egg I could find in the incubator and all quit almost at the end. *sigh*. I know what I did wrong and hope to fix it this Spring. If I get a broody Muscovy...I will let them hatch them out. Plus I need a deeper water source...I think.

whites all mask color, so having some with a spot or speck of color is not uncommon at all. Fertility in sebbies goes down when there are quads for breeding. Pairs produce higher fertility. We use the smallest kiddie pools and cement mixing pans from HD for pools.

print and keep Petes hatching guide: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/497391/geese-sticky-topics-index it will remove most questions on how to properly incubate goose eggs in the future.
