I haven't been able to with any of mine but by the 1st week you will see that little comb forming. For some reason all of mine develop their combs very early. Don't know if that is the breed or just the ones that I am hatching out.

Thanks Stephanie! Get well soon, ya hear? So, I've been sick all day, still managed to clean up the dining room, oil the table, and start pulling out the Christmas linens.
We found one of our Rouen hens dead this morning. No blood, no vent issues, just looked like she never woke up. She looked peaceful, for which I'm thankful!
My daughter got on a train tonight, she is COMING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS!!! YIppee! She lives in California, going through a very upsetting divorce, but she decided to come get some mommy time! I get to pick her up on Thursday night, it will be a great Christmas!!
I am sorry for all of you who have had egg loss. I will, if I'm not shaky, candle tomorrow.
Keep the snow, for another week, then it can come.
Sally, you crack me up, I'd like to party with you!
Celtics, you are a really good advertiser! WE ALL want them now!!!!
Fluffy, I love my ducks, and I love yours, too!
MrHeinz and crew, you are all doing an amazing job! Keep up the great work, we really appreciate you!
Off to bed, I still have so much to do before the big kids get home for the holidays!
~Stephanie
*goes to check out babymaker6's swap page....*I bet it was babymakers6.
I candled tonight and the eggs that went to omletteville had a fair few bloodrings think the spill crunched a lot of the babes. Some of everything else is developing. The only thing I could not see in was the f2 olive eggers. The marans coating over the blue shell defeated m 400 lumes. I did see something in 1 but could not tell in the others.
Oh, joy!! When he get's here I'll be putting him with Princess, the white Sebbie goose I posted a pic of a 'few' pages back. You will get splits and if those ganders are bred to a colored goose then whites and color pop out! There is an entire set of breeding charts by color to show how they work and how colors effect each other.
No pond needed, kiddie pools of all sizes, and cement mixing pans keep them happy and clean and breeding.
Duck, chicken, and goose have all spent time in the dicky with good success.
We dump them, many put a drain in the pools and use a hose to direct the water. Out front we use a sump pump as some of the pools are the black molded garden ponds and are in the ground.
LoL, I love sharing the fluffy butts
Aspen, I will have to look, if not I charged the camera yesterday and can take some this week. Oh and your Splash gander is a sibling of Tri and he also has a two toned eye going on. Going to set up a yard for him and the others as he is starting to get frisky and is becoming a true gander. Will check the girls and see if they are getting closer to laying. I dont plan for them to lay until January or even February, but some of the parent stock are early layers.
morning![]()
on so many wanting the sebbies, they are a lovely goose. We dont breed anything here with aggression as our almost 2 year old helps with chores and can work around the geese. We do keep them in breeding pens and he cant be in the ganders (they become protective) during the breeding season. However come June they will free range and he will be around them again. Right now we have a few juveniles still wondering loose and not a one pays him any attention.![]()
I love Serama babies!!
Good Morning! I love my 4 Muscovys...I'm making plans to have a whole bevy of them, but we'll see. They act more like dogs than ducks! LOLGood morning all! So who has the snow now? Forcasters are singing doom and gloom for Iowa, but we'll see. I candled everything again last night just to see the little wigglers and tossed the two I thought were empty. 38 little babies growing strong so I guess the Reptipro is doing OK.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the Sebbies! I started Muscovies this year and they are really cool. I just love to watch them fly around the barns. Hopefully I'll get some babies next year, I hear they are really good parents.
Dawwww
ducks can take 3 days from pip to hatch as they rest A LOT between steps to fully hatch
Quote: will take more today to post tonight
Aspen...good pairing he and she will give whites and splash (grey dilutes) He needs a curly goose with good feather and neck which I believe i am remembering her having.
