More eggs were tossed as we reached the end of day 7. Lots of eggs were kept! Dividers for bators was discussed--use plastic canvas craft material instead of card board.
thumbsup.gif
Also discussed was using a liner on the bottom of the bator. some use paper towers under burlap while others are using rubber shelf liner(for silverware drawers and etc.). It was pointed out that the liner can be cleaned in a washing machine when it gets too soiled.

Razadia got more advice on what to do with her Rooster named Red, including the observation that his spurs had been removed which often puts the Roo out of the "mood"

poor boy! Later in the new day(12/19), Razadia posted that she found a new job for Red! He is now going to be Bob Cat bait!

CelticOaks continued to post Goose pictures, which made us want them even more!
love.gif
You can harvest down from them to make pillows! Use that to get permission to have them!

Brechin got a very poorly packed box of hatching eggs in the mail. I hope the wax works. Of real significance, she has moved hatching eggs into lockdown! We will see how her Tech Device works! She later posted that the eggs that made round trips between Alaska and California had 6 of 12 developing!

Then it was morning!
LL
Coffeemama7 had a dead Rouen hen, cmfarm had a temp drop in the bator, Sweetly Silkies bumped the bator while vacuuming, Pele did not drop any eggs into the bator and mstricer lost a Turkey Hen! Bettacreek had a turkey run out into the road!

Post 4106 has the Day 8 development post! Thanks Brookhavens! 13 Days Till Hatch!

Off to have my Dinner!

How long do you guys wait to throw out eggs that don't appear to be deveoping? I don't trust myself to do it today, but when should I know for sure?
Usually by day 7-10. I through out 30 something eggs the other day, on day 7. Some were clear, others had blood rings.
I'm good, with those gifts you can send some to me. That is mostly what is going to happen with my family. I have been off work since Oct. 14 and am only getting half a paycheck and bills come first. Lucky for me my kids are grown and my family does a White Elephant gift exchange, which is a blast, 15$ max and you can re-gift which is a bonus. We have a nice potluck dinner and some laughs with the exchange. All families should do this, takes the pressure off gift giving. My niece and my daughter, are coming over and we are making cut out cookies, no-bakes and my fav peanut butter kisses, along with some reindeer cake pops ( i thought they were chocolate pops) Christmas is about family and friends, not gifts. The ones from the heart are the best.
That sounds like a lot of fun! I'm planning on doing some baking...it may or may not be for people tho.

I'm thinking I'll whip up some doggie treats, and lets not forget treats for feathered dinosaurs!

Oh man, that had to be hard to see. I am so sorry.
It was very hard. I tried rubbing the little thing, thinking perhaps it's heart was still faintly beating, but to no avail. Poor baby!
Why shouldn't you write with a broken pencil?
'Cause it's pointless.
I have been blessed with a Christmas gift! My client just gifted to me a beautiful pair of Tolbunt Polish! I now have one frizzle Tolbunt Polish hen and one smooth Tolbunt Polish hen. They are POL but even if I never see a single egg I am so happy! They are simply gorgeous! One of the best Christmas gifts I could ask for from a client :) WOW! I will post pics later if anyone is interested :)

Now I just want some CHICKS for NYD!! C'mon CHICKIES!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!
What a wonderful gift! Don't you wish all your clients would do that! Tolbunt Polish have been on my wishlist for awhile..just need money, coops, and space, yes?
Putting my Double Blue laced Barnevelders, EEs, BCM, Birchen marans, and olive eggers in the hatcher!! WHOO
Eggcited!!!!!!!

Does anyone know what kind of chickens these are I found them on the internet but I didnt see where it said what they are.
Golden Laced Wyandottes
These are from BYC members PHAGE and LUVINBLUECHICKENS - they are currently the 6 VERY STRONG developing eggs in my NYD hatch incubator. Talk about EYE CANDY!! These are Blue Laced Red Wyandottes!

Pretty, pretty, pretty!
My daughter says golden laced wyandottes.

Sorry about the duckling! I hate when that happens!

Great jokes, my kids are gonna tell them at the adoption support group family party tomorrow night!

I love the snow pictures! Not ready for it yet!

My daughter's train is several hours behind due to all the snow! She's been traveling for 24 hours, still 23 to go. Can't wait!

Finally caught up, I've been so busy being sick...didn't even want to sit at the screen till now (well the last hour).

Going to candle tonight, yippee!
Thanks honey -

I just sold some chicks! Made $30, yay
wee.gif
. 10 RIR chicks, 1 OE, and 1 BCM. I got some eggs today that I won on ebay. They are swedish flower hens and won them for only $1 (plus $15 shipping). It was for 6 but they sent 8. All the air cells are busted, but no cracks at least. I hope I end up with a few hatching.
Good for you! I plan on selling all the chicks, ducklings, and maybe some of the quail babies. How much does everyone sell their baby chicks (or any feathered babies) for? I usually sell my chicks for about $4.00 each. I sold my ducklings for $8.00 each, and they were mixed. I sold peachicks last year for $35.00 each..however after doing some research that is WAY too cheap. Any hatchery you go to sells them for about $47.00+ each. Looking forward to hearing what everybody else gets for their hatchlings. : )
Aww...and she had been being such a good momma!
I know! She was such a good mother to the first 5 ducklings and was very upset when I took them away, then she ups and kills the last duckling that hatches. Goof ball, grrrr! She is banned from keeping any babies anymore, she is just going to sit on eggs for me.
do you want one of him when he is all fluffed up? there are two fluffed now the rest are pipping yet

Cuteness overload, Sally! By the by everybody's been looking for you....you are possibly getting a prize....! : D
One of my duck eggs has already externaly piped! They are not due until Saturday. I guess they want to come early. Same thing happened they last time I hatched ducks, they came early as well.
Come on babies!
I took a look into all the duck eggs (15 of them) and noticed another externaly pipped and about 3/4 of them internally pipped. Maybe I will have a few ducklings in the morning!
Keeping my finger's crossed!

Hey all. If you need me for something, please check with one of the contest chairs. I've been at work all day and need to go back. (I've been off the clock most of the day though.

We're gearing up for a blizzard. 8-12 in of snow after freezing rain. Then 40 to 50 mph winds and I'm plowing for my boss tonight for the first time. I'm ready to say forget it.

Have fun chatting and pray that I don't lose power.
Oh I hope you dont!!

I found a really bad photo of my old flock! these were from 2-3 years ago. the little bantam roo got killed by his son, and one of the red ones (chloe, my very favorite) was killed by a hawk/owl. everybody else is still alive though!

whats this? Chloe! shes popping out of the shed we used ot keep their feed in, this is also how i discovered a HUGE nest in there, maybe 50-60 eggs? good grief.
CHLOE ROCKS!!
