4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Congrats to everyone with early babies! I've got a duckling internal pipped, but as long as they take to hatch it should be right on time. My chicken eggs were set a few days late, so I've still got until Thursday for them. It's getting close enough to the end that I'm getting impatient and ready for some babies now, lol.

Wow... Fell asleep on the couch and then went out to do barn chores... Came back to WAY too many posts to keep caught up!! Hope I didn't miss anything too exciting...

So far, no excitement from my eggs... Just sitting there, taunting me....
Oh thank goodness...Your post actually gives me hope..it is the first one which makes me think maybe this is normal...I have been reading post after post with people who have eggs which are chirping...I left the computer for a few hours and suddenly everyone seemed to have eggs pipping and chicks hatching...mine are silent. No rocking, now movement, no chirping, nothing...When I put them into lock-down I could see veins and then a big dark blob...I almost believe I may have handled them too rough as I was determined to see the movement I have been seeing so I stopped and put them all into lockdown. Now I am worried and not sure if I should have seen any movement or not...

No peeps or pips here...I think I ran low (98-99) all hatch...so we'll see....
I have the same thing going on...I had the worst time keeping it regulated...I guess I ended up running it a little low rather than high...I wasn't sure which was the better of the two choices as I couldn't seem to get it to stay perfect. I am a little afraid because I saw moving parts until lockdown. When I was putting them in the incubator I looked once more and saw nothing but dark blobs and then veins. I am not sure if this is right or if I killed them. I am worried about this and also humidity. It was around 48% and then I put water in for lockdown...now it is way too high. How in the world do I take it down again?

It looks like I've got some early birds

They are not due until tomorrow but I have little fluffy butts running around in the hatcher... So dang cute!

ERMAHGHERD! Ok, so I have two different incubators. One for the hatch-a-long and one for others that are growing. I have four unknown date eggs and I was candling them, two eggs are completely full, but I dropped one on my desk.... A lot of shell came off, stabbed a tiny hole in the membrane and it's moving! Looks pretty big, but not sure. I took off the rest of the shell so it wouldn't stab itself anymore and fluffed it up with flour to stop the bleeding. I put it on a wet rag and back in the bator! Wish me luck!

- fingers crossed-

I am so jealous! Come on little birdies do something.
I'm worried sick. No movement or chirps or anything. I only have 3 eggs, 3 little silkie babies.
Y'know...as far as I am concerned, it is still a bit early yet. I have made my best effort to maintain a stable temp and humidity to give me a timely hatch, not a somewhat early one. I believe mine are storing up their energy for a true New Years Day birth! If they were racehorses hatching today, they would already be OLD NEWS after all, eh?
