4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

I have had a great hatch with my Reptipro 6000! I put 38 into the hatcher and the last one is out, but not sure it will make it. It pipped at the small end, bled a bit and finally kicked out with a huge glob of yolk still unabsorbed. Even so I'm very happy with 38 hatching out of 40 set! My best hatch ever!

Sounds awesome! I did pretty well with this tester hatch with my new system of multiple incubators/hatcher. These first eggs saw the most extremes, so looks like I'm getting there.

Anyone wanting to see some (admittedly low quality) video of my NYD chicks, here's a LINK to the webcam. It won't be up that much, only while the boys are sleeping, but you can see them now. :)

Oh I need the code! If its OK could you let me know what it is? I am OVER this hovabator! It has been interesting but I am about to have a nervous breakdown and have honestly spent the past 20 days stating at the thermometer because the temps have been all over the place...
You and me both! I have one hatched and one who is trying, but this silly hovabator leaked all over my counter and I had a devil of a time keeping the humidity right. Crossing my fingers that my second chick can zip successfully! I just ordered my Brinsea!

i think im gonna lose one, he's very lethargic and keeps falling on his back.

Electolytes. Have any on hand? I always have it when I am hatching. It works wonders. Just tiny drops at a time. About every half hr. at first, one drop, then a half an hr. later another, then I go to an hr. apart, then two, until it's pretty much up and around.

Ugh. I'm 650 posts behind.

PM me with your choice for best hatch participant. Let's say by 23:59 CST Jan 2. That is unless somebody has said differently.

I can announce my first 3 chicks now:
Icelandic
Bantam Marans
Olive Egger

None of my shipped eggs have done anything yet.

I often have early hatch so was starting to wonder, I candled and had no movement. I left them a ccouple hours and candled again, still no movement, I carefully picked a hole into the air cell so if they were still living I would not hurt them, but none were moving. I wet a qtip with warm water and touched them through the membrane so if they were just resting they would move and nothing. One I could see was not fully developed so must have died a couple days ago. one was upside down , and the other everything looked good, but no movement.

I lost him. The moment I decided to go through with it, he suffocated. What my luck. If I would have made the decision 5 minutes sooner, he might still be alive.

no chicks yet, but I set late on the 11th, so
