My First Chick Has Hatched!

WOOT WOOT CHICKLET POWER!

The newest little one hatching has an unusual beak. The bottom is longer than the top by a mm or two... Will it get better or worse as the chick grows? If it does get worse, is it still compatible with life??
I'm glad to read that you have some hatching! The odd beak may be like a cross beak, it depends on how bad it is or gets; some do okay with a little trimming and/or deeper feeding dishes so they can scoop the food rather than peck. Sometimes tho the deformity is so bad that they just can't feed.
I hope the little one is in the former category

So regardless of being sick and miserable.... I have been up about every two hours to check the bator... Sometime between 5:30 and 7:40, Chick number two hatched! This is the one that pipped right as I was wanting to go to bed... so glad I didn't wait for it. :D Interestingly enough, my first pip hasn't hatched yet...

Yay, so happy for you! I sure hope you feel better today!

Patience Blarney, only 1 of my incubators have anything hatching so far, the second incubator is just now starting to show a few pips, guess temps are a little off in that one.....
I'm in the same boat, one of my incubators is done, woke up to 4 more chicks, so all 6 hatched in that incubator. I also woke to 4 pips in the second incubator! Another day of checking the incubator.
