We have eggs in lockdown now and hopefully some Orpingtons and BCM will be hatching this weekend! Yay!!!! Your thread has been very helpful though I haven't posted there.. thank you! Good luck with your hatch!

I have to back out of NYD. No eggs after the dog attack took all my layers. I have some Wellies and Ameraucauna in the bator now due to hatch the 14th and live chicks arriving this Fri. So I will be waiting until next year. I will try and pop in and read along as it happens tho.

Sorry about your hens! I had a bunch of fertile eggs and saved them up and put them in about 6 days ago... Never had heard about this and now I regret putting them in!!! I only have four hens that are laying through the winter! Grr!

Tomorrow at noon is the time to set your Guinea Fowl -

*Good luck to all that have already set some of their eggs; not many more types of fowl left to set

Hi all. I am joining in. I tried to resist, as I am sure I will regret this in Feb. (It will be way too cold yet outside even for feathered chicks, so they will be in my basement... I might have to make room in the garage if it gets too crazy.)

Oh well, it should be fun. This will also be my very first time hatching, so wish me luck!

I will be putting in some Silkies I won on ebay (shipped today) and some mixed breed eggs I am going to go pick up on Sat.

Feathered chicks seem to be able to handle just about anything. I also live in MN and I just put out some newly fully feathered chicks when it was 10 degrees out. I felt bad for them and made sure they have plenty of bedding, but they all did just fine. As long as they have proper shelter and siblings to snuggle with, they can eaisly handle a MN winter. Good Luck with your first hatch!

Thankfully my dad supports me and my crazy chicken lady-ness, since it makes my son and nephew happy to play with them.
