4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

They will come Monday, like half most of everyone else, I hope. mine are on their way.
Sorry you are sick too. I have been taking this
product_5_img.png
I swear by this stuff, and over abundance of Vitamin C you can't overdose on natural products. This is the best stuff. I found it by accident when was seriously ill a few years ago, then my Amish neighbor came over in spring and asked if they could cut some of my Elderberry flowers, when I asked what they do with it, she said they make tea with it and it cures all kinds of things from minor colds to bronchitis and all kinds of ailments, you can find this stuff in the flu section at the bottom of the shelf, they want you to buy the other stuff.
Thank you to all the get betters, my kitty cat has tons of sympathy for me as he sits with me all day, sleeps with me at night, follows me everywhere, he has been sat on and bumped into the toilet, because he is so attached to me, (I swear he wants to kill me in my sleep as he wants to lay on my face and purr. ( oh and I just noticed he has and extra toe, besides his dew claw, up a little higher on both front legs) I even asked the old man if he clipped his dew claws to short, when we both noticed this, very strange, anyone else's cat have these)

Thanks i will have to get me some of that when i get a chance.
My cat doesnt have any,at least i dont think she does. She has really long hair thou could be covering it up.Ha Ha my cat wants to lay on my head to.Silly cats :)

Quote: BELOW IS A PASTE FROM MY NOTES THROWN IN AN ARTICLE
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-101

AIR SACK CANDLING: Track the air sac with pencil tracings when you candle, @ 7, 14 & 18th days to make sure the air sac is growing at the right rate. I will refer to this site https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/491013/goose-incubation-hatching-guide-completed as a pictorial guide for candling. (NOTES: I purchased a candler from amazon for $13.00 plug in and works great when tried on a fridge egg)

CANDLE 7th day: Determine growth, weigh, pencil mark air cell size. Determine which are fertile.

The eggs remain in the incubator and the candler is positioned over the air cell (blunt end) to illuminate the contents of the egg. There should be a red 'dot' about the size of a match head with faint blood vessels surrounding it. Those eggs without any indications of fertility should be re-candled at 10 days and 14 days & thrown if they're infertile.

AGAIN, I will refer to https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/491013/goose-incubation-hatching-guide-completed & http://chat.allotment.org.uk/index.php?topic=73884.0 as a pictorial guide for candling. also this side for pics of BAD eggs, Progression Though Incubation https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/261876/chicks-are-here-egg-candling-pics-progression-though-incubation also https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/...-egg-candler-using-common-household-materials for more pic examples.

Hey everyone! I'm just finishing up my research paper on "Broody hens vs. Incuabtors" and I need an attenion leaver. I want to descirbe the beauty, and how amazing it is to witness the miracle of a chick hatching, though I can't seem to come up with anything good, any ideas? I'm not the best with words... By the way, the essay just barely made the 8 page minimum, yes! hahaha.

So, do any of my fellow hatchaholics have any ideas?
"A tiny miracle in my hands"
OvaScope High Intensity egg scope

If I was going to get one this is the one I would want, you can hook it up to your web cam and view on computer.
Oh that would be awesome!!!
Just joining in. I'm picking up my eggs on Monday :) Looking forward to this massive group hatch over the holiday :)
YAY !! What kind are you setting?
Quote: I have the OvaScope and both the regular OvaView and the High Intensity OvaView. The OvaScope is handy when I have children that want to see the eggs, but I can see much better in a dark room with the candler in my hand. Could be partly because the OvaScope is not exactly glasses friendly. It came as part of the package I bought. I wouldn't spend the extra money on it.

There is not a great deal of difference between the High Intensity and the regular OvaViews. I can see a little better with it, but I really wish I would have put the money toward a 220 lumens or better flashlight. So, I guess what I am saying is, unless you have a little too much money burning a hole in your pocket, invest in a good quality, high lumen flashlight instead.
Thank you for the advise... good advice I can save cash!!

I think someone brought the darn flu home with him or I'm getting it from my PT therapist who doesn't believe in sick days. I'm not happy about this either. I am the biggest baby when it comes to being sick, I got the chills, headache, I'm tired. What the heck, who else is getting this crap.
awwwww we all had it and now I am getting it yet again!
Quote: ok so I will see shadowing around 14th day candle?
LOL do you have this in a short chubby red head? he he he

My 2 year old is getting over some sort of stomach thing. No fever, just vomiting and diarrhea. No fun for both of us. He seems to be getting better though (at least I hope so).
