4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

But I think you need an Icelandic like my main flock rooster, Audun. He would be a great match for your DH. Who will you be getting eggs from next year?

Yes, Audun is a good color match, but your other roo would better set off the icy blues I think ; >
Back b/f I joined BYC my DH sent me links about the Icelandic imports, I followed a bunch of links and finally emailed one,
a person named Katie answered, (her web photos looked good to me) says she has had them 3 yrs, will be selling in 2013, put me on a waiting list for chicks in May...
That was b/f DH built the 'bator, so if this NYDH beta bator test goes well then Icelandic hatching eggs suddenly become an option.

Go little homemade bator that could, give those little eggies some happy temps.

I have plans for a duck egg hatch in Jan < planned b/f seeing the call duck, really honest, 12Welsh Harlequins to go w/ my Drake & maybe some Pekins b/c I got offered some and my 2 are females so they need mates, then I have 2 male runners?do they need girls, but oh that call duck was sooo cute, WOW its like chicken math, just add water !!

Anyway, the 'bator will be back on the Chicken channel again in Feb.

Ok, I gotta get back to the paperwork I'm trying to do for mail out tomorrow, or poss. sleep even.

We'll have to organize a duck hatch, won't we FeyRaine?

OMGoodness!! OMGOODNESS!!! Guess what? My broody Sizzle hen, who is inside (yes, you heard me inside..) has 6 duck eggs under her...they are hatching!! I just candled them and I can see their little bills against the eggs and I can hear chirping. I'm not going to sleep at all tonight...I may just haunt this thread....

How fun! I actually have thought about bringing my one laying cochin inside to see if it would make her go broody. Then I can just give her the eggs I set. ;) I doubt it would work though, especially since she just started laying, but it was worth a thought. lol
