LOL

Thank you. I'm not sure. I thought maybe she was egg bound. (She hadn't been laying yet though.) I dont really want to cut her up to find out though.

I have no idea? Search me...

Sometimes they just drop dead, you never know. Again, I'm sorry for your loss. : (

Thanks! My other 7 all seem healthy as ever so I am just hoping it was a problem with her, and not something contagious.

Am thinking some chickens would like this:

I'm not even kidding when I say I was going to make something like this. I'm sick of the single combed roosters loosing the teeth of their combs to frostbite. My poor Tom Jr. has already gotton frost bite this year and we are just begining the long cold winter ahead of us. The only problem is that I can't seem to design them so that they don't fall off right away...

My big cornish cross is already having issues with his single comb too. My buddy cuts the combs off of the roosters, but I can't bring myself to do that. I like the look of that big ol' comb, and most importantly, that would HURT!!! I have to figure something out to help protect the combs. :/

I had read somewhere that applying Vaseline to the comb helps prevent frostbite.

Have you asked them to put a trace on it?

It's probably a DC tag. They haven't been updating them like they do the rest of the year, unfortunately. And everything is coming really late. My eggs were sent Sat and the last update was the 10th, but I checked this morning and they finally made it to my PO. 5 days in the mail, instead of the typical 2. I just hope that everybody gets their packages and eggs in a safe and timely manner and still get great hatch rates!

So I am wondering... it was posted here that we could still set eggs on Friday and be included in the contests (but not the first hatched one) is that right? I thought that had been said because of so many of us are still waiting on eggs due to slower than normal shipping times. So I am waiting to take my pic and post it until my last set of eggs arrive tomorrow. However, the guess the number of eggs set contest ends tonight? How is that going to work??
